WHAT WE DO

The Ladder Foundation is currently implementing a broad range of activities relevant to societal development in India. A special attention will be given to the historically deprived sections of the society such as Muslims, Dalits, and Adivasis. The activities are categorized into ten sectors:

Water& Sanitation

Education

Food Security

Self-Employment

Shelter and basic settlements

IDP&Refugee Rehabilitation

Community Infrastructure & Services

Emergency Relief Action

Post-Violence rehabilitation,

National integration programs

Shelter and Basic Settlements

According to a worldwide survey conducted by the United Nations in 2005, around 100 million people are homeless and without any shelter to pursue their life. The 2011 Indian census data shows around 28% people from rural areas and 20% people from cities live without shelters in India. And considering the social stratification in the Indian society, marginalisation of the historically deprived sections such as Muslims, Dalits, and Adivasi will be addressed with more importance. Provision of emergency shelter, emergency cash grants, rehabilitation of housing, distribution of non-food items (NFIs) and provision of return and repatriation kits

Education

The Government data has shown that even after many decades of Independence the country did not achieve 100% literacy to date.  Our primary education sector has to be integrated and the quality of education ensured. Prime Minister’s high-level committee report on the Social, Economic and the Educational status of the Muslim community of India, popularly known as Sachar Committee report has categorically shown that the Muslim community lags behind many other communities and issues should be addressed structurally. Taking a cue from the Sachar report, Ladder foundation focuses on the educational empowerment of Muslim community. Educational grants and fee support, school feeding programmes, teacher training and support, school materials provision and construction or rehabilitation of school structures are the projects we implement in this sector.

Food Security

Since the poverty and its extreme form as starvation deaths still persist in different parts of the country. Poverty eradication was one of the dream of our nation’s founding fathers. Taking their dream forward, we have formulated Food Security programs. Our programs include: emergency food provision or food voucher programmes, training and capacity development in agriculture, agricultural inputs (e.g. tools and seeds) and agricultural grants etc

National integration programs

As a country of different religions, cultures and languages, it is highly important to generate a feeling of oneness. Gatherings of different kinds of people and sharing of their life stories are very helpful in building trust among different people

Self-Employment

Business training and SME development, business grants, life-skills training, literacy and numeracy training, vocational training, micro-credit loans, savings groups, group enterprise development and facilitation.

IDP &Refugee Rehabilitation

Coordination and management of refugee and IDP camps, active participation in UN cluster coordination, humanitarian surveys and studies, facilitation of NGO Networks focused on displacement solutions, capacity development and  assisting government agencies in humanitarian activities

Community Infrastructure & Services

Provision of physical infrastructure like roads, bridges, community centres, irrigation systems or other community structures, facilitation and training of infrastructure management groups at community level, facilitation and funding of community development plans, initiatives for disaster risk reduction at community level.

Emergency Relief Action

When emergency situation arises in the country in the forms of natural calamities our team will try to extend our helping hands for the needy as much as possible

Post-Violence rehabilitation

Since Independence, our country has witnessed several brutal communal and caste violence in the society. Very often, the Minorities and Dalits are being targeted. Sheltering, helping them in judicial processes, and creating a peaceful future life for the victims are the aim of this program

Water& Sanitation

As a method to improve the living standard of the rural poor, basic amenities such as water and sanitation, have to be ensured for the common masses. For attaining that aim some important measures such as emergency water supply, hygiene item distribution, hygiene information, and education, construction of latrines, installation water points, and wells and water storage will be pursued.
