Ladder Foundation is a non-government and non-profit organisation established in 2017, working to improve the quality of lives of the rural and uraban poor in India, with a primary objective to eradicate poverty and hunger ensuring social inclusion and justice, citizens’s right, national integration and equal opportunities. Helping communities locate and initiate development measures, providing training and other capacity-building support to village groups and individuals, and carrying out research and advocacy in favour of the underprivileged people especially the Muslim, Dalits and Adivasi communities.
Why Muslim, Dalit and Adivasi Communities..?
Ladder Foundation focuses on the empowerment of Muslims, Dalits, and Adivasi because they are disproportionately affected by poverty and discrimination; and suffers abuse and violations in the realisation of their rights, entitlements and access and control over resources. Also, various commission constituted to study the backwardness of these communities such as Mandal Commission, Sachar Commission, and Kundu Commission shows that, there should different levels of affirmative actions to empower these communities from the underdevelopment and marginalisation. The Government of India itself has formulated many programs aimed at these underprivileged sections in the society.
