Warmth from Warm Hearts

Aftab (آفتاب)
Meaning sun or warmth in Urdu & Persian — symbolizing compassion, hope, and solidarity during the harsh winter season.

The Aftab 2025–26 Blanket Distribution Project is a large-scale winter humanitarian relief initiative undertaken by the Ladder Foundation of India in collaboration with KMCC Kerala Trust. The project successfully distributed approximately 13,000 blankets to vulnerable and economically disadvantaged communities across cold-prone regions of India.

Every winter, thousands of underprivileged families, homeless individuals, elderly people, and children in North and East India suffer from extreme cold due to the lack of adequate shelter and warm clothing. Recognizing this urgent need, Ladder Foundation launched Aftab to provide warmth, dignity, and protection to those most at risk.

The project was formally inaugurated by Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, marking a significant milestone in Ladder Foundation's winter relief efforts and highlighting the collective commitment of humanitarian organizations to protect the poor from severe winter conditions.

Objectives of the Project

Immediate Winter Relief

Provide immediate winter relief through the distribution of quality, durable blankets to the most vulnerable families and individuals.

Reduce Cold-Related Illness

Reduce cold-related illnesses and prevent winter-related fatalities among vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly and children.

Support Marginalized Communities

Reach homeless individuals, migrant workers, elderly people, widows, and children from low-income families living in extreme hardship.

Promote Humanitarian Responsibility

Inspire community participation, donor engagement, and volunteer mobilization — turning collective compassion into tangible action.

Project Implementation

The project was implemented through a carefully coordinated, multi-stage strategy ensuring transparency, efficiency, and maximum impact for every rupee donated.

01

Needs Assessment

Field volunteers and local partners identified high-risk communities based on poverty levels, winter severity, and lack of access to warm shelter.

02

Procurement

Durable and high-quality blankets were procured in bulk to ensure effective protection against cold temperatures and maximum value for donors.

03

Logistics & Distribution

Blankets were transported to selected regions and distributed through organized distribution camps and door-to-door outreach programmes.

04

Volunteer Mobilization

Volunteers from Ladder Foundation and partner organizations played a key role in beneficiary identification, distribution, and documentation.

05

Documentation & Reporting

Distribution data, photographs, and field reports were collected systematically to ensure full transparency and accountability to donors and stakeholders.

06

Impact Evaluation

Post-distribution follow-ups assessed the reach and impact of the project, informing improvements for future winter relief initiatives.
