India’s hunger crisis affects millions, with children and mothers suffering the most. Malnutrition hinders growth, learning, and health—creating a cycle of poverty that spans generations.

Description

  • India is battling a severe hunger crisis, with alarming consequences for its most vulnerable communities.
According to the 2024 Global Hunger Index, India ranks 105th out of 127 countries, highlighting the urgent need for action. Despite economic progress, millions still go to bed hungry, especially in rural and marginalized areas where access to food remains uncertain and insufficient.

    Children bear the heaviest burden.
Malnutrition weakens their immune systems, stunts physical and cognitive development, and severely limits their ability to concentrate and learn in school. These effects often last a lifetime, diminishing their future opportunities and overall quality of life.

    Mothers, too, are at risk.
Many women suffer from chronic undernourishment, anemia, and poor health during and after pregnancy. Without adequate nutrition, they struggle to care for their families, and the cycle of hunger and poverty continues across generations.

At Ladder Foundation, we are committed to fighting hunger with dignity—through meal programs, ration kits, and targeted support that nourishes both bodies and futures.
