In rural India, clean water is scarce. Many rely on unsafe sources, leading to illness and lost opportunities—especially for women and children who spend hours each day fetching water.

Description

  • Access to clean drinking water remains a distant dream for millions in rural India.
In many villages, safe water is a luxury, not a basic right. Women and children often walk for hours each day to fetch water—time that could be spent in school or earning a livelihood. Even then, the water they collect is often from unsafe sources like open wells, ponds, or polluted streams.

The consequences go far beyond thirst.
Drinking contaminated water leads to widespread illness, including waterborne diseases like diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid. The burden of poor health reduces productivity and increases healthcare costs for already struggling families. Children frequently miss school due to illness or the need to fetch water, further entrenching cycles of poverty and underdevelopment.

At Ladder Foundation, we aim to bring sustainable, clean water solutions to these communities—because access to safe water is not a privilege, it’s a right.
